Privacy policy

Data we collect

Account: email address (sign-in by code, Google or Apple), username, profile picture if you add one. Your email is kept only by our authentication system and is never shown to other users.

Content: the debates you create, your votes, your comments, the accounts you follow, your badges and XP.

Opinion profile ("Opinion DNA"): computed from your votes, it may reveal political opinions. It is private by default and only visible to others if you turn on public display yourself.

Device and usage: notification token, device language, anonymized usage statistics (Firebase Analytics) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics).

Advertising: if you agree, Google AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show personalized ads. In the European Economic Area and the UK, your consent is asked at first launch and can be changed in the settings.

Website: a vote without an account on votedemos.app only stores a hashed fingerprint (hash of IP address and browser) to prevent duplicate votes. Vercel Analytics measures traffic without cookies.

Why we use it

To run the service (account, votes, results, comments, notifications) — performance of the contract.

To personalize your feed and debate suggestions, improve the app and fix bugs — legitimate interest.

To compute your opinion profile and show personalized ads — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

If you generate a debate with AI, the text or link you provide is sent to OpenAI to write the question; it is not used to train their models.

Service providers

Supabase (database hosting and authentication), Google Firebase (analytics, crash reports, notifications), Google AdMob (advertising), Google and Apple (sign-in), OpenAI (debate generation), GoodVibesLab Comments (comments), Vercel (website hosting). Some are located outside the European Union; transfers are covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

We never sell your data.

What is public

Your username, picture, the public debates you create and your comments are visible to other users. Vote results are shown in aggregate: nobody sees how you voted unless you make your opinion profile public.

Retention and deletion

Your data is kept as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Profile › Settings › Delete account): your profile is anonymized (username replaced, picture and bio erased) and your follows, reports and notification tokens are deleted. Your votes and debates stay in the results, attached to an anonymous account. To also erase your sign-in email and your comments, email us (votedemos.app/delete-account). In-app notifications are erased after 60 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can access, correct, delete or export your data, object to its processing or withdraw your consent by writing to contact@goodvibeslab.app. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Demos is not intended for children under 13.
